Steiff has always had a strong connection with the USA. After all, the Teddy bear itself was named for U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt. In 1913, Richard Steiff designed a bear style that would be known as “Dolly,” which was introduced at the time of the inauguration of Woodrow Wilson. It was created to welcome the new President into office. Through 1918, the Dolly style would appear in various color combinations in the Steiff line. Our “Dolly” replica is the version with the green body, white head, and coral red collar from 1913. It is five-way jointed, made of the finest mohair, stuffed with wood wool, and has a distinctive “yarn” collar, just like the original on which it is based. The Teddy also features glass eyes and a press voice. As a finishing touch, a patinated "Underscore" button and a white replica ear tag make this historic bear complete.
